Gaining and Demonstrating High-Demand Competencies

There are two types of initiatives to develop and demonstrate technical competencies: Workshops are occasional opportunities to get hands on experience in high-demand technical skills and apply these skills to a very short project (on the order of hours to days). Typically, established working professionals who are experts in a topic or technology will lead the workshop. This also provides opportunities for aspiring and early career space professionals to make great connections with the established professionals who lead the workshops. Project Working Groups focus on longer-term projects that are semi-independent and work to demonstrate or develop new opensource technologies. Project Working Groups are intended to be supported by coaches and mentors who have relevant domain knowledge and expertise, while being managed and executed by Orbital Engineers members. Projects are broadly focused on high-tech and engineering applications for Space. Examples of technical experience initiatives that are planned for the future are indicated below.
